Suketsune Kudo was well versed in waka poetry and served Yoritomo Minamoto, who was very fond of him. He quarreled with his cousin over a village, and in the fight that developed, he not only lost the village but had his wife carried off by Sukechika. Infuriated, he ambushed and slew Sukeyasu, one of the sons of Sukechika. Later Jurō and Gorō, the other two sons of Sukechika, trapped him on the outskirts of Mount Fuji while he was out hunting with Yoritomo and slew him out of revenge for their brother.
