Susan studied at the State University of New York at Buffalo and received a Bachelor of Science in 1975. She also finished the Rochester Institute of Technology with Master of Bachelor Arts in 1986.
Susan started as a marketing director in clinical diagnostics at Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester, New York during 1979-96; from 1996 she was a publisher and writer at Footprint Press, Fishers, New York. She was a member of volunteer board at WXXI Public Television during 1989-95. Susan worked as a secretary at Victor Hiking Trails during 1991-96. Susan was a secretary at Genesee Region Trails Coalition during 2003–2005.
In 1997 she wrote Take a Hike! Family Walks in the Rochester (NY) Area. It was followed by Take Your Bike! Family Rides in the Rochester (NY) Area in 1998.
