Since 1968 Susan Friedman has been a freelance photographer, has taught workshops privately and has been an instructor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She has also lectured at Friends of Photography, Carmel, California, and Cabrillo College, Aptos, California, among others.
Susan Friedman produces exotic images of women, the female form "becomes an expression of human sensuality and spirit" in her photographs. She has had one-women shows both nationally and internationally, including Tokyo, Amsterdam, Berlin, and San Francisco Her still work is collected by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Oakland Museum, The Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.
