(This pioneering book is dedicated to the many Dresden stu...)
This pioneering book is dedicated to the many Dresden studios that were in business in Germany in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Harrans, authors of two editions of Collectible Cups & Saucers, have researched the Dresden studios, which were mostly destroyed during World War II. This book contains more than 550 color photographs, as well as illustrations and original catalog pages of fine Dresden. The book includes background information on the town of Dresden and the decorating studios. The manufacturing and decorating processes are provided, as well as sections on Helena Wolfsohn, Carl Thieme, Donath & Company, A. Lamm, F. Hirsch, and R. Klemm. For each studio discussed, the authors provide historical information, style, forms, marks and photos. There is a section on Dresden lace figurines, collecting tips, a discussion on reproductions, a bibliography, and an index. Dresden Porcelain Studios is sure to be a hit with collectors.

Book III in Jim & Susan Harran's series is all-new, with no repeats from their first two books. Over 1,000 color photographs are included this time, and the book concentrates on cups and saucers that are readily available to collectors. An expanded section on cabinet cups and saucers is provided, and some of the categories from books I and II are again covered: late nineteenth and twentieth century European and American dinnerware, English bone china and earthenware cups and saucers, miniatures, and mustache cups. There are also two brand new categories in the book, Japanese cups and saucers and art glass cups and saucers made by the leading glass factories in Europe and the United States. A marks section, helpful appendix, and bibliography are once again included, as well as useful tips for dealers and collectors. 2007 values.
