Suzuki Gyosui was Born in Akita Prefecture, 1898.
Studied at the engineering class of the defunct Army Aviation School (from 1920) and was appointed instructor at the school.
Suzuki Gyosui was commissioned second lieutenant finishing the one-year voluntary service. Left the army (1924) and switched to painting. Took lessons from such noted painters as Reizan Tsukahara and Shinsui Ito.
As he used to paint for illustrated magazines, he became an illustrator. He was particularly adept at painting illustrations for scientific fictions and adventure stories. He won his present reputation by drawing illustrations for "The New Story of Tarzan," a magazine serial.
