This collection of essays contrasts eastern and western philosophies of concern for the future, and offers some suggestions for their possible reconciliation. Contributions are also provided by Yoon-Jae Chung, John Dunn, Takatoshi Imada, Masaya Kobayashi, John O'Neill, Onora O'Neill, Edward Page and Takesha Sasaki.
