Education
He went to Tokyo to study under Sokuken Yasui, noted Confucian scholar, and also studied calligraphy.
Career
At the command of Emperor Meiji, he copied works of Wang I-chih, famed Chinese calligrapher. The emperor was so pleased with the work that he gave Taiiki one of his cherished ink slabs. This made him famous and many disciples studied under him.
