In 1942 he joined the staff of the Far Eastern Research Institute, and then entered the Central Meteorological Observatory. He was sent to the United States (1952), and obtained his doctorate the same year. After his return to Japan, he was appointed associate professor at Pedagogic University of Tokyo.
