He graduated from Tokyo University (1929).
Tanasawa Yasushi became lecturer at Tohoku University, then was promoted to assistant professor (1932). Received his Doctor of Engineering (1936) and become professor of Tohoku University (1941).
In charge of precision engineering and concurrently was professor at Iwate University. Distinguished himself for his research on heat conduction, gasturbines and jet engines. Received scientific experiment scholarship from the Education Ministry.
