Tanzil Haider Usmani

Background

Usmani was born in 1949 in Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan; the son of Mehmood-ul-Hassan Usmani and Raheela Usmani.

Education

Usmani received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Punjab University. In 2001, he was given a Doctor of Philosophy degree in chemistry from Karachi University, writing his thesis on Preparation and Characterization of Activated Carbon from Rice Husk, Acacia Arabia and Low Rank Coal.

Career

Usmani served as the director general and the additional chairman of Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Karachi Laboratories from 2004 to 2010. Also he completed and carried out his research at the Hussain Ebrahim Jamal Research Institute of Chemistry.

Achievements

• Usmani`s name was included in Marques Who's Who for his contributions to Science and Engineering. He is known for his work on Inorganic and Carbon nanotube chemistry.
