Tao Chu, Japanese physicist, researcher. Recipient Young Scientist award, Japan Society Applied Physics; Science for Young Scientists Research fellow, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.


Chu, Tao was born on April 12, 1969 in Hefei-city, Anhui-province, China. Son of Xiao Ming Chu and Wei Shi Feng.


Doctor of Engineering, Kyoto Institute of Technology, Japan, 2002.


Research fellow Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Kyoto-city, Japan, 2001—2003. Researcher OITDA, Nippon Electric Corporation, University Tokyo, Tsukuba, Japan, since 2003.


  • Achievements include development of photoelastic characterizing method of bulk crystalline ingot, quasi 3D photoelastic characterization of bulk semiconductor crystalline ingots. Development of photoelastic measurement of strain induced by die-bonding of GaAschip on a copper heatsink plate, reflection type of infrared polariscope. Research in optical anisotropy and strain-induced birefringence in dislocation-free silicon single crystals.
