Tenno Kimmei built the Kanasashi Palace at Isokijima (Nara Prefecture), where he resided. It was during his reign that the King of Kudara (a state in Korea) sent a gift of an idol of Buddha and some Buddhist scriptures to Japan, over which a fierce argument took place between Iname Soga and Okoshi Mononobe. The former was for accepting the Rift, while the latter was for refusing it. This is said to be the first introduction of Buddhism to Japan (562). It was during his 23rd year of reign that Nipponfu of Mimana (Japanese colony in Korea) was destroyed (562).
