Career

Terence Faherty has lost no time establishing himself as a solid, character-driven writer. His two popular mystery series featuring male lead detectives who thoughtfully evaluate their actions and interactions with others. Both search for their place in life, at times looking back to wonder what might have been had they made different choices along the way.

Faherty’s 1991 dehut novel, Deadstick, unveils its author’s knack for weaving together plot and characters to create a gripping novel without relying on gore to attract readers. Here he introduces Owen Keane, a former seminarian currently employed by Harry, a lawyer friend from his college years, as a researcher. Keane is asked to investigate a forty-year-old plane crash that killed a wealthy banker and his fiancé. Keane senses something greatly amiss, and amid a succession of odd events, he engages in some detective work that enables him to solve the mystery in a climactic finish.

Investigator Keane returns in Faherty’s second novel, Live to Regret, this time hired by Harry’s father to keep an eye on Harry, who is grieving the recent death of his wife in a car accident. A priest and a mysterious local woman named Diana are also entangled with Harry and Keane as they unravel the events leading to Diana’s death. However, Keane’s detective work is not the major focus; rather Faherty dwells on the lessons learned by the three men. He is also the author of other books on The Owen Keane and Scott Elliott series.
