Arrington received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Detroit University in 1971. Two years later she earned her Master of Arts degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1977 from the University Kentucky.
Arrington began her career as a coordinator at St. John Catholic Church in 1982 and had held it for thirteen years. The same years she was an assistant professor of modern languages at the University of Mississippi. Also in 1983 she took the position of a teacher at St. John Catholic Church, where she worked until 1987. In 1995, Teresa was appointed an assistant professor at Center College. Since 1996 she has worked as an adjunct professor at Millsaps College.
Arrington is a member of Modern Language Association, American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, Southeastern Council on Latin America Studies and Mississippi Foreign Language Association.
On August 10, 1973 Teresa Arrington married Melvin Slay Arrington. They have 2 children.
