Educated private school. Student Academy Fine Arts, Saint St. Petersburg, 1850-1860. Received 3 silver medals, 1857, gold medal, 1858, great gold medal, 1860, and pension for 6 years to continue study abroad.
Received medal, London International Exhibition, and later, a medal at Vienna.
2d, Emily Meyer, of Switzerland. Went to Italy, 1864; settled in Florence, 1865. Engaged as sculptor there until 1871.
Member Academy Fine Arts, Saint St. Petersburg, 1863.
Settled in Kansas as farmer, 1872. Since 1882 in Florida, as orange grower.
Became a naturalized citizen of the United States Won competition for crowning statue and two bas reliefs for capitol, Topeka, Kansas, 1889. Made bust for Memorial Hall, Normal College, New New York
Employed on decorations Chicago Exposition, 1893, and was commissioner Fine Arts Department of Russia at World’s Fair.
Exhibited in Anthropological Department same, collection from shell mounds of Florida, and after the fair sent it to Moscow and was made honorary member Geography and Anthropological Society, Russia. Notable statues: “The Little Sculptor,” “The Widow and Child” (both in Academy Fine Arts, Saint St. Petersburg). “The First Step” (in National Museum, Saint St. Petersburg), et cetera
