Kramer received his country"s highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor. Kramer"s medal was won for his actions in the Battle of Chapin"s Farm, Virginia, on September 29, 1864. The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private Theodore L. Kramer, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 29 September 1864, while serving with Company G, 188th Pennsylvania Infantry, in action at Chapin"s Farm, Virginia.
