He completed a course in architectural study at the College of the Pacific in Monterey.
Following a few years of training in his father's office, Theodore and an elder brother, Louis T. (died 7/20/1920) became partners in the firm of Jacob Lentzen & Sons. Among their early works were a number of public buildings in San Jose, noted examples of which were the Hotel Vendome, built in 1887, and the old Hall of Records. After the turn of the century Mr. Lentzen established an office in San Francisco, and continued practice there until shortly before his decease.
