Background
Wentworth was the only son of the Edward Noel, 1st Viscount Wentworth and his wife, Judith, and was educated at Eton and Brasenose College, Oxford.

In October 1774, he successfully contested Leicestershire but soon had to leave the Commons when he inherited his father"s titles a month later. When Judith died in 1822 and then Lord Curzon died without heirs in 1856, the abeyancy was terminated in favour of Anne.
