Secretary Republican National Committee, 1880. One of the “306” who voted continuously for Grant in National Convention, 1880. Appointed by President Harrison commissioner Columbian Exposition, and served on coms. of organization, classification and ceremonies.

Trustee University of North Carolina, 6 years. President trustees Agricultural and Mech. College of North Carolina, 6 years Manager real estate and tal department, Long Island Railroad Company, New York, since January 1, 1899.
