Assistant engineer, city engrs. office, Los Angeles, 1905-1912. With California State Division of Highways, serving successively as assistant div. engineer, assistant highway engineer, assistant state highway engineer and chief department of materials and research, 1912-1951, retired. Member engineering advising committee, University of California President board administration California State Employees Retirement System, 1931-1950.

First president California Employees Association. Past director Sacramento Chamber of Commerce, Sacramento Council Boy Scouts of America.

Member American Concrete Institute (director 6th District, 1943), American Society of Civil Engineers (nat. vice president Zone IV, 1942-1943. Member of national board of directors, 1937-1939). Clubs: Serra, Sutter, Frequent contributor to technical journals and proceedings of technical orgns.
