Worked on play for production in New York City (never actually produced), 1839.
Lived near Decatur, Georgia, from circa 1840. Contributed poetry to Graham’s Magazine, other publications, from 1842.
Became friend of Edgar Allen Poe, 1845, corresponded with him until Poe’s death, engaged in controversy with Poe over alleged plagiarism of each other’s work (both appeared to be at fault), early 1850’son Contributed substantially to A. J. Davis’ Univercoelum, 1848.
