Tien-taeng Wan received his training at the Shensi Military Academy in Sianfu, then entered army service following graduation.
Mr. Tseng entered army service following graduation. Then in 1926 he joined the Nationalist Northern Expeditionary Forces and captured several important cities in Southern Hopei.
He also took different high positions such as Commander of the Provisional 4th Army in 1930, Commander of the 5th Division in 1931 and Commander of the 21st Reorganised Division with headquarters in Honan.
