Timofey KRASNOBAYEV, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Surgeon. pioneer of child surgery; Honorary Doctor of Medical from 1935; Honorary Sciences Worker of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. Stalin Prize; two Orders of Lenin; Filatov Prize; Order of the Red Banner of Labor. member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences from 1945.
Education
1888 graduate Medical Faculty, Moscow University.
Career
After graduate worked at Vladimir and Olga children's hospitals, Moscow. From 1903 senior physician. Surgical Department, Morozov Children’s Hospital (1st Moscow Children’s Clinical Hospital).
1894 introduced primary blind suture of trachea in tracheotomy. Used chalk dressing for treating burns. Devised technique of crushing bladder stones which can be used with minimum risk even on infants.
1922 performed first Soviet operation for congenital pylorostenosis on a baby. Designed support for plaster-cast work and traction blocks which are still in use. Viewed bone tuberculosis as a disease of the whole organism and suggested it be treated by strengthening the constitution and increasing its resistance, especially by spa treatment.
Considered removal of bone a last resort.
