Tippy Packard is an American professional figure skater and choreographer who represented Hong Kong in international competition. She is a three-time Hong Kong national champion and World Championships competitor and has performed internationally in major ice shows, including Holiday on Ice and Royal Caribbean productions.
Background
Tippy Packard began skating at the age of five and developed a competitive career representing Hong Kong. She trained with Alex Chang, Sondra Holmes and Jere Michael and worked with choreographer Alex Chang. During her competitive years, she competed in women's singles at international events and represented Hong Kong at the Four Continents Championships and World Championships.
Packard won the Hong Kong national championship three consecutive times and subsequently transitioned from competitive skating to professional ice shows. Her later work has combined skating, performance and choreography.
Education
Packard attended the University of Southern California, where she studied kinesiology and exercise science.
Career
Packard competed internationally for Hong Kong in the late 2000s and early 2010s. She placed 28th at the 2010 Four Continents Championships and 25th at the 2011 Four Continents Championships. She also competed at the 2011 World Championships, where she placed 26th in the preliminary round, and at the 2012 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic, finishing 10th overall.
Her international competition record also includes the Merano Cup, Ice Challenge, New Year's Cup and Volvo Open Cup. At the 2012 Hong Kong Championships, she won the senior women's title.
After her competitive career, Packard moved into professional show skating. She has worked with productions and organizations including Royal Caribbean and has toured internationally as a professional show skater. Her work has included performances at Knott's Berry Farm and other ice-show productions.
In 2018, Packard became the female principal in Holiday on Ice's 75th-anniversary production, Showtime, performing the role of the Asian Beauty. She described the production as an important stage in her development as a performer and teacher.
Packard later joined ITV's Dancing on Ice as a professional skater. She made her debut in the 2022 series, partnering Olympic BMX racer Kye Whyte. The pair reached the semi-final. In 2023, she returned to the programme with comedian Darren Harriott.
Packard was selected for the 2024 series and was originally paired with Olympic ski jumper Eddie Edwards, but a knee injury prevented her from competing with him. She subsequently returned to the programme for professional group performances.
She returned for the 2025 series of Dancing on Ice, partnering comedian Josh Jones. The partnership ended in January 2025 after Jones sustained an ankle injury during rehearsals and withdrew from the competition.
Packard has also worked as a skating instructor and choreographer. In an interview, she described her choreography process as beginning with the music and developing a story around the music and required elements of a routine.
