Clark received a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Ohio Northern University in 1967. Three years later he was given a Master of Science degree in clinical pharmacy from the Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy at Wayne State University.
Clark served as a director of pharmacy at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and the Chicago Medical Center. He worked as a faculty member of the University of Missouri, the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy, the University of Houston College of Pharmacy, the University of Illinois at Chicago and the South Carolina College of Pharmacy. Toby held the position of a director of Hospital Pharmacy Services at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center and professor of pharmacy practice at UIC College of Pharmacy.
Nowadays he is an adjunct associate professor of pharmacy Practice at South Carolina College of Pharmacy and advisor to the Director of Pharmacy at the Medical University of South Carolina. Also Clark is a medication systems consultant and Lead Surveyor for the Accreditation Services Division of American Society of Health System Pharmacists.
Clark is an ordain Deacon at the First (Scots) Presbyterian Church.
Clark is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, South Carolina Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American Institute of the History of Pharmacy and is a past officer of the Southeastern Michigan Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Greater Kansas City.
He is a past chair of the University Health System Consortium Pharmacy Executive Committee and Council and a founding member of the Oncology Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties of BPS and the Novation Pharmacy Executive Committee. Also Toby was a vice president and treasurer of the Hospital Pharmacy Section as well as a member of the Professional Practice Board.
On May 29, 1999 Toby Clark married Patricia Kruger. They have 2 children.
