Education
Takiyama was taught at Kaminomiya Middle School, Osaka. Then he studied English literature at Pomona College, U.S.A. (from 1922). In 1924 Takiyama went to England and France and studied at Mannsfield University.
Career
In 1925 Takiyama returned home and the same year became professor of Doshisha Women's College and president of Doshisha Women's University and since 1937 professor of Literature Department of Doshisha University.
