Tomita Saika graduated from Nihon University and then made an extensive tour of Manchuria and Mongolia.
Tomita Saika, upon his return from Manchuria and Mongolia, published a collection of his waka poems under the title "Sorrowful Lake". His books on poetry are numerous, such as "Son of Earth", "Hand of the Times" etc. He has also translated Whitman's "Leaves of Grass" and some of Carpenter's and other foreign poets' works into Japanese.
