Tomoichiro Inoue was born in Osaka.
While yet a student at Waseda University took interest in writing and made frequent contributions to Kankito Magazine, till he founded together with Taijiro Tamura a magazine of their own titled Sakura (cherry) in which they advocated the long novel technique.
After graduating with a degree in literature, joined the editorial staff of Jimm in-bunko, and wrote his first novel "Naminoue" (On the Waves) for it 1936. The same year began writing for Miyako Shimbun, and was sent by them as a war correspondent to cover the Hankow Campaign (1988). Returning home he published another novel titled Zanmu (Lingering Dream), which was favorably commented upon. Encouraged by this he resigned from the newspaper to turn all his attention to writing. Is director of Society of Literature and member of Pen Club. Among his works are Zanmu, Aoni- yoshi (on Nara) Jutai (conception), etc.
