Tomojiro Ikeuchi was born in Tokyo, the second son of the poet Kyoshi Takahama.
Tomojiro Ikeuchi left Keio University without graduating to pursue his studies in music, went to Paris (1927) and was the first Japanese to be enrolled at the Paris Academy of Music.
Tomojiro Ikeuchi returned to Japan and had his compositions played by the New Symphony Orchestra (1934), became instructor at the Tokyo Academy of Music (1946) and at the Tokyo University of Art (1949).
