Education
Tomonobu Kano studied under Shosen Kano, together with Gaho Hashimoto and Hogai Kano.
Career
After the Meiji Restoration (1868) took to western paintings under the influence of Wargman, one of the first western painters to come to Japan. Later taught at Kaisei Middle School, Tokyo University, and at the newly established Art Academy.
