Barrister-at-law, Honorable Society Gray's Inn, London, 1965; assistant professor of history, African-Afro American studies, University of Michigan, Flint, 1971-1973; associate professor in Africana studies, Wellesley College, Wellesley, Massachusetts, 1973-1979; professor Africana studies, Wellesley College, Wellesley, Massachusetts, since 1979. Visiting professor of history University of Minnesota, 1975, The Colorado College, Colorado springs,1985-1986, visiting professor of Afro-Am studies Brown U., Providence, Rhode Island, 1991, Brandeis U., Waltham, Massachusetts, 1974, 81. Honorary research fellow University of the West Indies, Trinidad, 1986-1987.
