Career
Participated in the Japan Mass Party (1929), joined the National Mass Party, the National Labor and Farmers Party and the Social Mass Party. During the above period, served as member of the prefectural assembly and deputy mayor of Suwa City. After the war, became a central executive member of the Socialist Party. Elected to the House of Representatives (1946), and elected governor of Nagano Prefecture three times (since 1947).
