Toru Matsui

Background

His father is the novelist, Sho-o Matsui.

Education

Studied at Waseda University but left without graduating.

Career

Became consultant to the Shdchiku Motion Picture Company in 1932.

Went to Formosa in 1942 and worked as chief officer of the Drama Association.

Following the end of the war, formed Ari-no-Kai (Society of Ants) among day workers and has been leading a cultural movement among them.
