Toshiko Yamawaki graduated from Women's Fine Art School (1906).
Toshiko Yamawaki founded Akahakai (Red Leaf society), a women's art organization (1919). She became lecturer of Bunka Gakuin (Cultural Institute) (1924). She became lecturer of Bunka Fukuso Gakuin (Bunka Institute of Dressmaking) (1938) and thereafter founded and became president of Yamawaki Fukushoku Bijutsu Gakuin (Yamawaki Institute of Art of Dressmaking) (since 1948). Books include Ywmaki Toshiko-no Shinzuan (The New Designs of Toshiko Yamawaki).
