After graduating from Tohoku University, Toshio Kurokawa rejoined his alma mater as assistant professor (1926), then professor (1941) and finally became Dean of its Faculty of Medicine (1947-1951). Toshio Kurokawa was a member of Japan Science Society and considered as a specialist in diseases of the digestive system and gastric ulcers. He was a president of Tohoku University since June 1957.
