Takaura Toyotaro was a Japanese educator. Is remembered as a scholar of the doctrine of Wang Yang-ming.
Background
Takaura Toyotaro was born in Hiroshima Prefecture, 1833.
Education
Began his education under, Shuyo Yoshimura, and then under Soan Ikeda in Tajima (Hyogo Prefecture). Subseqently he began to teach at the Choyo-kan, a school for children of his clan.
Career
He founded the Nisshokan, a private school and was associated with his disciple Aijiro Oku in founding the Nisshokan, a private middle school (1870).
