Tsunadayu Takemoto was born in 1904 in Osaka, Japan.
Began studying Gidayu reciting at the early age of eight under Yamashiro-shojo and then joined the Bunrakuza Theater under the name of Tsubamedayu.
His recital of Taikoki Judamme at the Bentenza Theater won him great fame (1928). When the Bunrakuza Theater went out of business he joined the Sanwa group for awhile and later went over to the Chinamikai group with which Yamashiro and others were affiliated (1950).
He was declared a National Art Designate (1955). Bears a very close resemblance in both appearance and technique to Yamanashiro-shojo. His samisen player is Yashichi Takezawa.
