1908 graduate Saint St. Petersburg Women's Medical Institute.
After graduate worked under A. A. Kad’yan and G. I. Turner at Surgical Clinic, Peter and Paul Hospital. 1914 first woman to be appointed senior surgeon at a hospital in the rear of the Western Front. From 1919 professor, Chair of General Surgery, Samara University.
Later head, Surgical Department, Obukh Institute, Moscow, then head, Traumatological Department, Institute of Therapy and Prosthetics. From 1931 head, Chair of Field Surgery, Centr Institute of Postgraduate Medical Training. Simultaneously head, Traumatological Clinic, Sklifosovskiy Institute.
1939 worked in field hospitals during fighting against Japanese at Khalkin-Gol. Also served in war against Finland. During World War 2 senior inspector, Main Military Medical Board, Soviet Army.
Specialized in occupational and military traumatism. Advocated the functional trend in the treatment of traumas. Was one of first Soviet surgeons to introduce the primary surgical treatment of wounds resulting from industry and other accidents.
As a pioneer of traumatology as separate branch of surgery, made a major contribution to the organisation of treatment for minor injuries. Wrote some 90 works.
