The first major competition for Valentina Kopylova was the European Championship in Budapest in 1950, which ended with victory of the USSR national team. In 1950, the All-Union Committee awarded Valentina Vladimirovna Kopylova the title of Merited Master of Sports of the USSR for her outstanding sport achievements and public work in the field of physical education and sports.
In December 1951, Valentina Kopylova, as a member of the Moscow combined team, became the winner of the Grand Prix of Prague.
In 1952, the 3rd European Women's Basketball Championship took place in Moscow at the central stadium "Dynamo". It became the second victorious European championship for Valentina Kopylova. The Soviet female athletes won brilliantly third time in a row the European Championship in Budapest in 1954, and the Soviet and foreign press again praised the game of basketball players of the USSR team, who demonstrated high technique of the game and tactical diversity in defense and attack. In the same year, Valentina Kopylova, as a member of the Moscow Aviation Institute, once again became the champion of the USSR, beating in a stubborn struggle a strong Dynamo team out with a score of 52:45.
The year of 1956 was also victorious for Valentina Vladimirovna. She, as a member of the national team of the Soviet Union for the fourth time, became the European Women Basketball Championship, which was held in Prague. In 1957, the team of the Soviet Union went to the World Women Basketball Championship in Brazil. Having taken the first place in the qualifying group, Soviet female athletes in the final round of the competition lost only to the USA team (48:51), who became world champions. The USSR national team won silver medals.
After the sports career ending, Valentina Kopylova worked for many years as a coach of young basketball players at the Burevestnik sports school in Moscow.
