After graduate physician, Nizhneudinsk Railroad Junction, then distr health officer, Don Oblast. Specialized in hygiene under Professor V. G. Khlopin at Saint St. Petersburg Institute of Experimental Medical From 1910 laboratory technician, Chair of Hygiene, Kazan’ University.
1910-1926 also director Smallpox Vaccination Institute. 1920 defended candidate thesis on pollution of Kazanka River.
From 1923 head, Chair of Hygiene, Kazan’ University (from 1930 Kazan’ Medical Institute). From 1924 associate, Institute of Labor Welfare, All-Union Centr Trade-Union Council. 1927 —54 consultant, Sanitary and Antiepidemic Service, Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
1928-1932 took part in expeditions to study endemic goiter in Mari, Ural, Transbaykal and Gornaya Shoriya regions. Did research on methods of determining the nitric and nitrous acid content of sewage, studied river pollution. Also supervised a study of the mineral content of food products in the Tatar and Mari Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic which confirmed that iodine deficiency is the basic etiological factor of endemic goiter.
