Educated at the Ryazan Higher School of Airborne Troops, the Frunze Military Academy and at the General Staff Military Academy.
Career
Having begun military service in the Airborne Forces, later he continued it in the Ground Forces, the service was held in the Baltic, Odessa, Turkestan, Moscow military districts. In 1986-88 he took part in combat operations in Afghanistan, commanded a separate assault and assault brigade.
In 1992-95 - the commander of the 2nd Guards Motorized Rifle Taman Division. At the head of the divisions (500 men, 8 infantry fighting vehicles and 30 armored personnel carriers), on 04.10.1993 he took part in the storming of the White House.
Since November 1995 the commander of the Operational Group of Russian troops in Transnistria. Since 16.01.2002 Deputy Commander of the Land Force for Peacekeeping Forces. 07.07.2009 appointed head of the Main Directorate of Combat Training and the Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
