1882 graduate Medical Faculty, Moscow University.
Career
After graduate physician, Moscow Orphanage. From 1886 assistant professor, then associate professor, Chair of Hygiene, Moscow University. 1903 defended doctor’s thesis on diffuse lithting of classrooms.
1911 resigned from Moscow University in protest against policies of Education Minister Kasso. 1918-1923 founder-director, Moscow Institute of Physical Training and Sport. In his latter years consultant on school hygiene and physical training, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics People's Commissariat of Health and Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics People's Commissariat of Education.
Head, Chair of School Hygiene, Moscow Teachers’ Training Institute. Studied sanitary conditions and physical training in elementary' and forest schools and children's colonies.
