Vasant studied at Medical College in Poona, India. In 1960 he received a degree of the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Journalism. In a year he was a student of the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Bombay, India. In 1963 Vasant studied at Grant Medical College in Bombay, India. He received a degree of the Master of Science in the area of otolaryngology.
Vasant worked as a registrar in ear, nose, and throat in the Dundee Royal Infirmary in Dundee, United Kingdom from 1964 to1966. In a year he was a senior registrar in ear, nose, and throat of the Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital in Coventry, United Kingdom. He worked there until 1970. Since 1970 he worked as a consultant in ear, nose, and throat, surgeon of the South Cleveland District in Middlesbrough, Cleveland, United Kingdom.
In 1982 he was a chairman vocation training of the Northern Region at the University of Newcastle in Newcastle Upon Tyne in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. In a year Vasant was a chairman of the first British Carbon dioxide Laser Conference in ear, nose, and throat.
Vasant married to Nirmala Bhandari on May 15, 1962. They have a child: Neena Vasant.
