He was educated at the Tashkent Higher All-Arms Command School (1974), the Frunze Military Academy (1987), the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (2000).
Mr. Artyuh served as platoon commander, troop leader in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany, chief of staff, deputy commander of the battalion, commander of the battalion in the Transcaucasian Military District.
Since 1987 Artyuh was the deputy commander of the regiment, the chief of staff, the chief of the storage of armament and equipment, the armament and military equipment base, the regiment commander, the deputy commander of the division in the Baltic Military District, the deputy division commander, the deputy corps commander, division commander in the Far Eastern Military district.
