Vasily Dmitrievich worked as a rural teacher and a district school instructor. He was reporter of the newspaper "Trud", "Evening Moscow", and "Working Moscow". As a prose writer, he has been published since 1923. In the mid-1930s, Vasily Dmitrievich repeatedly visited Voronezh, took part in local literary life, published in the newspaper "Kommuna" and other publications. In the almanac "Literary Voronezh" appeared several works of Ryakhovsky in 1939-1941.
