Vernon Venable began a forty-year teaching career at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 1932. While at Vassar, he taught philosophy, ethics, and anthropology and served as the chairperson of the philosophy department. He wrote articles for several journals and a series of essays entitled Poetic Reason in Thomas Mann. Mr. Venable’s book, Human Nature: The Marxian View, was originally published in 1945.
