Deputy Minister of Higher Education, 1951-1954, and Minister, 1954-1959. Minister of Higher and Middle Special Education, 1959. Accompanied Khrushchev during his US tour, 1959.
Non-voting member, 1956, and full member, 1961, of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Lenin Prizes for Science and Technology. In his early career, published research work on metallurgy.
