He graduated from the Voronezh School of Theology, Kiev Theological Academy.
He taught at Kiev Theological Academy, worked as a counsellor of Volyn provincial government (Zhitomir), court of conscience chairman (Kamenets-Podolsky). Since 1857 he was engaged in professional literary activity in Kiev and St. Petersburg. He wrote many books, dedicated one of his works in memory of V. N. Karpov (St. Petersburg, 1868).
