Head and founder of the Aprista Party. President of the Student Federation, 1919, which brought on the successful strike at the University of San Marcos. President of the First National Students’ Conference of Cuzco, 1921.
Candidate for the presidency of Perú, 1931.
Persecuted by the Sánchez Cerro administration, 1932. Taken to the penitentiary “incomunicado” for sixteen months.
Released June 1933 under the Amnesty Law issued by the Benavides administration. At present actively engaged in the reorganization and extension of the work of his party.
Author of several monographs on the ideals and purposes of the Aprista Party.
