Victor H. Johnson started his career of a writer in 1947 when his first book The Homcasters was published. Later he wrote such books as Cry Torment, South Blood and Strike the Lutine Bell. Johnson also was a contributor to marine journals and popular magazines, including the New Republic, Town and Country, Nation, Sea Power, Argosy, and Harper’s. Sometimes he wrote under a pseudonym John Bell.
